Happening Hotels

Before turning in, check out Seattle’s hotel bar scene.

Since when were hotels just for comfortable beds and room service? Many of Seattle’s downtown hotels are home to happening bar scenes. Here are some options for pairing your overnight with nightlife.

THE NEST AT THE THOMPSON HOTEL

Perched high above the city, The Nest offers New York-style swank. Sip a “Pea Diddy” (pea flower–infused vodka, passionfruit, lemon, bitters) and snack on white cheddar–truffle popcorn while overlooking Elliott Bay.

OLYMPIC BAR AT THE FAIRMONT OLYMPIC

One could imagine F. Scott Fitzgerald ordering The Seattleite at this glamorous bar that’s just undergone a historic restoration. The Olympic also serves restrained small plates, desserts, and afternoon tea on the weekends (reservations required for tea).

Elevate your drinking and dining experience, literally, by sidling up to the chic bar in the clouds at the Fog Room. Atop the boutique Charter Hotel, this sleek space serves classic cocktails with a modern twist and moody descriptions.

OLIVER’ S LOUNGE AT THE MAYFLOWER PARK HOTEL

Inside a designated Historic Hotel of America is Oliver’s Lounge, an elegant space with floor-to-ceiling windows (it was Seattle’s first post-Prohibition “daylight” bar). Grab a table looking out on the downtown Seattle Christmas tree, and order their classic martini, an eight-time winner in the Seattle Martini Challenge.
