Visit Seattle Takes Home Top Travel Industry Honor, Winning Platinum at HSMAI Adrian Awards for LGBTQIA+ Vow Renewal Extravaganza

SEATTLE – Visit Seattle is sailing to new heights with a Platinum Award from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Adrian Awards for its ‘Love For All Boat’ campaign, which won in the Integrated Marketing Campaign category.

The Love For All Boat was created to honor Pride’s 50th anniversary in Seattle, affirming the city’s commitment as an inclusive destination for the LGBTQIA+ community. On May 30, 2024, Visit Seattle welcomed LGBTQIA+ couples for a vow renewal ceremony aboard the Love For All Boat. The ceremony was led by Justice Mary Yu, Washington’s first openly gay justice, who officiated Washington’s first same-sex marriage in 2012; and emceed by RuPaul’s Drag Race icon BenDeLaCreme. With 56 couples participating (including the first couple Justice Yu married in 2012), the vow renewal ceremony set a new world record.

City landmarks lit up for the occasion as the Argosy Cruises sunset voyage set sail, with Mayor Bruce Harrell declaring May 30 as Love For All Day in Seattle. The event received national and international media attention, in outlets like ABC, CBS, Reuters, and Telemundo. Proceeds benefitted the GSBA Scholarship Fund, which supports LGBTQIA+ and allied students residing in Washington state.

The HSMAI Adrian Awards is one of the top honors in travel marketing worldwide, recognizing the most outstanding campaigns and professionals in tourism and hospitality. Spanning advertising, digital marketing, and public relations, these prestigious awards honor the industry’s best and most innovative.

“The Love For All Boat was a celebration of LGBTQIA+ love and belonging that my Visit Seattle colleagues and I will remember for years to come,” said Visit Seattle’s Chief Strategy Officer Michael Woody, who also participated in the nuptials. “As a destination with a long history of centering the LGBTQIA+ community, Visit Seattle is proud to have taken home a platinum HSMAI Adrian Award for this campaign that honors love, joy, and inclusivity.”

The Adrian Awards were presented at a Feb.18 ceremony in New York, where Visit Seattle was honored alongside esteemed travel brands such as Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton, and Puerto Rico Tourism Company. Read about this year’s Adrian Award winners here.

Additional industry acclaim for the Love For All Boat includes nominations at this year’s PRWeek Awards and North American SABRE Awards.
