Visit Seattle Announces Partnership with Intentionalist to Support Small Businesses and Diverse Local Communities

Visitors and locals are encouraged to “spend like it matters” through monthly tabs and more

SEATTLE – Visit Seattle and Intentionalist have entered a partnership to further amplify and support small businesses and diverse local communities in the Seattle region, a goal which intersects with the missions of both organizations. Intentionalist is an online directory and marketplace that makes it easy to find and support local small businesses and the diverse people behind them through everyday decisions about where they eat, drink, and shop. Their directory includes more than 3,000 local restaurants, bars, gyms, shops, and more owned by women, people of color, veterans, LGBTQ, families, and differently abled people. As one of the first points of welcome a visitor receives in the Emerald City, Visit Seattle is uniquely positioned to encourage visitors to explore different areas of the city than they might otherwise experience, highlighting the cultural diversity and vibrancy of Seattle’s neighborhoods.

The partnership includes two Visit Seattle-sponsored monthly tabs ($250 each) at local Seattle and King County small businesses within the Intentionalist network. The first tab kicks off at Sweet Alchemy in the University District this Sunday, July 18, which is also National Ice Cream Day. Guests are invited to enjoy a medium cup or cone on Visit Seattle’s tab until funds are depleted. Future tab locations will be announced via Visit Seattle’s social channels on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, as well as on the visitseattle.org website; Intentionalist will also share tab information on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and the Intentionalist.com website. Visit Seattle will also be supporting Intentionalist through social media support, dedicated website and e-newsletter content, and integration into various campaigns and events throughout the year. Concurrently, Intentionalist will support Visit Seattle’s efforts with network integration, customized lists of network businesses for Visit Seattle group events, social media and blog support, and more.

“Visit Seattle is an invaluable resource whether you’re a tourist visiting Seattle for the first-time, or a local interested in continuing to explore all Seattle has to offer. Our work together will help our respective audiences discover new resources and connect to the diverse Main Street businesses at the heart of our communities,” said Laura Clise, Intentionalist’s Founder and CEO. “When I am a tourist in a new city, I want to have authentic experiences while also supporting the local community – our goal through this partnership is to encourage visitors to Seattle to do the same, using Intentionalist’s resources as their guide.”

“Now more than ever, Visit Seattle is committed to using our influence and our voice to promote and support small businesses and diverse communities through the stories we tell and the work we do,” said Ali Daniels, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Visit Seattle. “Intentionalist’s online directory and network are pivotal as we connect visitors and locals to the diverse people and businesses that make our destination so unique. Our hope through this partnership is to encourage people to spend their dollars and invest where they will make the most impact in our vibrant city.”

Visit Seattle and Intentionalist are honored to amplify the diverse voices that make up Seattle’s business community, such as Chera Amlag of Hood Famous. “I’m so grateful for Laura and the Intentionalist team,” said Chera Amlag, Founder and Co-owner of Hood Famous. “Intentionalist has not only brought visibility and direct guests to Hood Famous, but has also helped us build community and connections with other BIPOC small business owners. I’m excited about seeing Visit Seattle and Intentionalist partner with one another! What a great partnership to leverage both platforms and show out of town guests that where and how they spend their money matters now more than ever, especially as we are all trying to rebound from the impacts of Covid-19.”

Locals and visitors alike are invited to follow both Visit Seattle and Intentionalist to learn more and participate in upcoming activations.
