I’m Sorry, Happy Birthday (A Film by Claire Buss) | Seattle Story Award Winner

Dear Seattle

Community and collaboration are core to Seattle’s DNA. This is a film that celebrates the fact that you can find community, warmth and unbelievably creative people in unexpected places. Nowhere is that more true than in Seattle. Our second Seattle Story Award winner, Claire Buss, channeled her own special experiences in the city through this quirky yet playful film as her #LoveLetterToSeattle. Claire’s commitment to fostering a largely female community on her set and her strong reliance on regular collaborators and those who inspire her made her the perfect recipient of this Award at the LA Film Festival.

The Claw (A film by Lael Rogers) | Seattle Story Award Winner

Dear Seattle

Seattle has a way of elevating the different, the underrepresented, and the unconventional. This film celebrates the city’s spirit of inclusion. In her #LoveLetterToSeattle, our third Seattle Story Award winner – Lael Rogers – channels her belief that the things that make us different, are exactly the things that make people feel at home here in Seattle. It’s a city that’s ready to embrace the claw in all of us. Lael brings a fresh female perspective to filmmaking and has a history of transforming people through rich stories. Premiered with Film Independent and Rolling Stone at an event in New York City, this film not only oozes Seattle flavor, but delivers a simple human message at its heart.
