Do You Know Bruce Lee?

The Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience presents Do You Know Bruce?, an exhibition on global martial arts and cultural icon Bruce Lee.

With the full support of the Lee family, the exhibition explores Lee’s personal story and the deep connection he had to Seattle, showcasing never-before-seen personal items such as handwritten poems, boxing gloves and head gear and original press kit materials from his top films. It is the only exhibition outside of Hong Kong to present such an in-depth look into Bruce Lee’s life.

Named one of the most influential people of the century by Time magazine in 1999, Lee was a prominent martial arts, fitness and film superstar who championed the advancement of racial equality by dedicating himself to breaking stereotypes of Asian Pacific Americans in the media.

Lee came to Seattle in 1959, where he attended the University of Washington as a philosophy major, opened his first two martial arts studios in the Chinatown-International District and University District neighborhoods, and fell in love with his wife Linda Lee. Seattle became his final home in 1973 when he was laid to rest at Capitol Hill’s Lake View Cemetery, a gravesite that continues to attract visitors from around the world.
