The city’s most anticipated new development is the Picklewood Paddle Club, which will open this fall in SODO Urbanworks as both a playing venue and a social gathering spot. Amenities include seven indoor and four outdoor courts, a pro shop, ping pong, and food and drink options developed by cofounder and restaurateur Ethan Stowell. Look for a full-service restaurant, a beer garden, and a branch of Rubinstein Bagels. Guests can drop in or reserve play time in advance, and lessons are offered too. Bonus: the club is next to a cluster of wine tasting rooms within SODO Urbanworks.
Elsewhere, the city’s designated pickleball hub, Green Lake Park, has eight public outdoor courts, and many other venues are striped for both tennis and pickleball; you can reserve a spot or take your chances and drop in. The city is also planning to open a large pickleball complex near Magnuson Park in late 2026. Visit seattle.gov/parks/recreation/sports/pickleball for locations. The growing national franchise The Picklr will open an indoor facility in Fremont late this fall, and another, called Pickle at the Palms, in Interbay, likely sometime later this year or early next. And on Bainbridge Island, you can play where the game started at Battle Point Park Founders Pickleball Courts.
