Visit Seattle Achieves DMAP Accreditation With Distinction From Destinations International

The destination marketing organization is recognized for exceeding the industry standard for performance and accountability

SEATTLEVisit Seattle, the official destination marketing organization for Seattle and King County, has received accreditation with distinction from Destinations International’s Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP). Destinations International, the world’s leading trade association for destination organizations, made the announcement during its Annual Convention last week in Chicago.

“We are pleased to have Visit Seattle join our distinguished group of accredited organizations,” said Don Welsh, President & CEO of Destinations International. “The industry distinction defines quality and performance standards for destination organizations and I look forward to welcoming them to the DMAP community.”

As part of the DMAP accreditation process, destinations must successfully comply with several mandatory and voluntary standards that span a variety of performance areas. The standards cover nearly all aspects related to the management and marketing of destinations including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development, and research.

The accreditation with distinction designation is an honor reserved for those organizations that go beyond meeting the required standards to truly showcase the breadth of their operation and their commitment to advancing the destination they serve.

“DMAP accreditation is a tremendous achievement for our team,” said Visit Seattle President & CEO Tammy Canavan. “This recognition reflects our team members’ dedication, passion, and integrity as we work to grow the visitor economy for the benefit of our community while sharing the remarkable spirit of our destination with the world. We proudly accept the responsibility of upholding this standard of excellence as we carry out our mission for years to come.”
