Family Style

For new Americans, food is one of the deepest connections to history and homeland. More than preserving a link to the past, it’s about creating a future and it’s up to the next generation to continue the legacy. This series celebrates the stories of five immigrant chefs shaping Seattle’s esteemed culinary scene. It’s an experience best served Family Style.

Donna Moodie

Family Style

Seattle’s Donna Moodie was born in Jamaica and immigrated with her family to the U.S. when she was a young child. She found her way into her mother’s kitchen at an early age, but what left the biggest impression wasn’t just the food, but her mother’s gracious hospitality – always hosting dinner parties and finding room for one more guest at the table. Today, Donna has brought that legacy forward in her own restaurant Marjorie, a neighborhood jewel that welcomes all. Enjoy Family Style. This series was produced in collaboration with VICE.
