Day 1

Admire the Seattle Spheres, the lush LEED Gold conservatory on Amazon’s South Lake Union campus. Register in advance for a look inside on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Continue to downtown’s eco-friendly Seattle Convention Center, which includes the original Arch building, adjacent to Freeway Park, and the newer Summit building, home to popular eateries like Bombo Italian Kitchen and Monorail Espresso. Next visit Seattle Art Museum, which in October unveils its sustainably minded exhibit Farm to Table: Art, Food, and Identity in the Age of Impressionism. When the Seattle Kraken are in town, you can book a Kraken Game Day tour of zero carbon–certified Climate Pledge Arena; ticket holders to games and concerts can get free transit passes to and from the arena. Across the street, dine on sustainable seafood at Taylor Shellfish Farms Oyster Bar.

Day 2

Stock up on local foods at the many farmers markets held across the city, such as Saturday morning’s University District Farmers Market. On University of Washington campus, view the engaging natural history and Northwest Native cultural exhibits at the LEED Gold Burke Museum, breaking for a bison or veggie chili frybread taco at the museum’s Native-owned Off the Rez Cafe. Rent a canoe or kayak from UW’s Waterfront Activities Center to glide around Union Bay. Then shop green at vintage stores like Lucky Vintage and Red Light Vintage, before dining on farm-to-table fare at cozy Three Sacks Full.
