Floyd & Rachel

This year the University of Washington joins the Big 10 and Seattle can’t wait to welcome a new group of fans.

Similarly, Seattle’s famed Rachel the Piggy Bank can’t wait to reunite with her lost love Floyd of Rosedale.

When UW entered the BIG 10, Pike Place Market’s Rachel the Piggy Bank was shocked to see her long lost love Floyd amongst the football media coverage. In hopes of rekindling what they once had, Rachel worked up the courage to reach out and invite Floyd to visit her in Seattle. Given Rachel can’t travel, she’s hoping Floyd will pay her a visit.

Meet Rachel the Piggy Bank

Rachel the Piggy Bank is the mascot of Pike Place Market as well as a piglanthropist, raising money for the Pike Place Market Foundation. She loves greeting visitors underneath the Pike Place Market sign at the corner of Pike Street and Pike Place. She has some family members located throughout the Market but has been hoping to find a pig to fill a special spot in her heart.

Meet Floyd of Rosedale

Floyd of Rosedale is another beloved bronze pig that the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Golden Gophers fight for each fall. The trophy, named after one of Minnesota’s previous governors, is passed between the game winners each year.
