Color. Pageantry. Spectacular Music. See and hear seven of the nation’s finest drum and bugle corps in competition at The Seattle Summer Music Games (SSMG) at Renton Memorial Stadium on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Hosted by the Seattle Cascades, the state of Washington’s only World Class drum and bugle corps, the Games is pleased to welcome the participation of corps from six states. These include 18-time World Champion Blue Devils from Concord, CA; Blue Knights from Denver, CO; Troopers from Casper, WY; Genesis from Austin, TX; Columbians from Pasco, WA; and The Battalion from Salt Lake City, UT. Each musical ensemble will present a unique show in its own style with specially arranged music. The Cascades’ 2019 production is titled “Off the Grid.” Living in a connected world, the act of severing these connections is known as going off the grid. The corps explores life in and out of this grid-driven, unconnected world. Musical selections include Off the Grid by Brandon Smith, Asphalt  Cocktail by John Mackey, I’ve Got the World on a String by Harold Arlen and Ted Koeler, Never Gonna Give You Up by Stock, Atken and Waterman, Nitro by Frank Ticheli and High Wire by John Mackey.

This competition promises to be one of the most prestigious events of its kind ever held in the Pacific Northwest. Joining Seafair and Drum Corps International, NYMA and the Cascades are pleased to welcome the City of Renton and the Renton Chamber of Commerce as SSMG sponsors.

A full day of activities are planned, including a taste of the Pacific Northwest from some of the area’s top food trucks—Rain City Catering, Rain City Hotdogs, Pecos Pit BBQ, Marination, Seattle Ice Cream Catering and Chayen Coffee. Shop at the expanded souvenir marketplace featuring the participating drum corps, arts organizations, other nonprofits and Renton-area businesses. Relax in the beer/wine garden at the Carpenter’s Union Hall and reminisce with alumni from the Northwest’s best drum corps of the past. Enjoy pre-show entertainment by the Seahawk’s Blue Thunder and Sounder’s Soundwave.

In addition, the Red Lion Hotel, the Games official hospitality venue, will offer special room rates for those attending the Games from July 5-7, which includes breakfast and transportation to/from the airport as well as to/from the Games. To keep abreast of the schedule of events go and links to tickets and hotel reservations, go to https://www.seattlesummermusicgames.org

Reserved and general admission tickets will be available in advance at www.dci.org and at the stadium July 6 starting at 3:00pm, including a designated gate for advance ticket holders. Ticket prices vary from a special reserved center VIP section at $50 to a general admission rate of $25. Group tickets of 20 or more in three reserved sections are also available at a reduced price through DCI. The Games are sure to sell out, so purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended.

Join seven of the nation’s most entertaining drum and bugle corps for a great evening of show-stopping music as well as a full afternoon of family fun.
